The winner will receive a cash award of $150 and have his/her artwork displayed on the cover of over 14,000 phone books.  Entries should be either a black and white drawing or a photograph.  Submissions should be 8x10, camera-ready, and vertical in format.  All entries will be judged on quality and content.  The deadline is Friday, November 14, 2008.  Submissions should be sent to:

Wellesley, MA 02481

Proceeds from the Wellesley Phone Book go toward college scholarships for Wellesley students and to local charities.  Anyone interested in advertising in the phone book can send a note to: wellesleyphonebook@hotmail.com.

The Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club is a volunteer organization dedicated to community service.  Each spring our Scholarship and Donations committees get to work giving away the money we worked so hard to raise over the previous 10 months.  In 2008 we gave away over $190,000 in college scholarships and in charitable donations to organizations who provide education, enrichment, and essential services to our local population.

If you are interested in learning more about our organization, or are interested in obtaining a scholarship application or donation request form, please visit our website at www.WHJWC.org.

COVER CONTEST WINNER

The winner of the 2008-09 Cover Contest is Maria Manse.  Maria has lived in Wellesley with her husband Fredrik and their four children for over 12 years.  Maria is an avid photographer, runs her own business (www.mariamanse.com), is very active in all three of the schools her children attend, and is also President of SWEA Boston, a Swedish Women's Organization that every year hosts the Swedish Yuletide Celebration in the South End, www.sweaboston.org.  Maria was inspired to take this photograph because our Town Hall is such a beautiful building, reminding her of a German castle.  She wants to thank WHJWC for the opportunity to show some of her work.
